Taking Stock

Many of the people I know are what you would call “Act First, Think Later” kind. Though it used to work well for them, they have now realized that this isn’t a long term strategy. This extended lockdown has forced many of them to have a cold hard look on what they have been doing and whether they are in the right direction, going forward.

Hindsight is 20/20. No one doubts that. However, the fact that the whole idea of decision making is based on System 1 and System 2 and it takes a bit of training for our mind to recognise our biases and avoid them. That’s why taking stock is important.

We are where we are, because of the directions we have taken till now. However, where we can be would very much depend on directions we will take from now on. This can be aided if we take a stock of things. What worked for us, what didn’t, what may work for us? All it needs is a sense of purpose and action and I am sure we can always change our growth trajectory.

As they say, well begun is half done!
